The end of this year is proving to be the year of the micro wedding and Lauren and Andrew sure put there own spin on things with an amazing but small wedding.
Through out this pandemic I have rescheduled many weddings not only once but some couples have had to reschedule numerous times. Lauren and Andrew decided to wait and see how things planned out nearer the time before they began to resechdule and I’ve got to admit they played this pretty well for all the uncertainty that we’ve been through.
A few months before the big day Lauren reached out to say that they were looking at rescheduling for next year however they were still marrying on the date they had booked regardless. Covid was not stopping them marrying and I was absolutely delighted. #loveisnotcancelled
I had met with Lauren and Andrew 1 year previous to photograph their pre-wedding shoot and we had so much fun doing this session, so I knew no matter how big or small their original date may be it will be one filled with love and laughter.
With the restrictions in place this meant that Lauren and Andrew’s wedding was limited to only the church with 20 guests. Regardless of the restrictions the ceremony was both beautiful and intimate.
When we left the church to all the beautiful confetti some of the newly weds family, friends, flower girl and page boys had all turned up to give them a huge cheer (all socially distancing) from across the road which was utterly wonderful. Then Lauren’s dad and Andrew done a speech, a scramble was thrown for the kids, Andrew wouldn’t share his dram of whisky with Lauren (see photograph) but once the photographs were finished he pop’d open some champagne and all was forgiven. Although it was a small wedding they packed in a lot in such a small space of time, making their day unique and utterly wonderful.
I asked Lauren and Andrew for some feedback about their day for other couple’s who are not so sure about having a smaller wedding and here is what they had to say;
“Our day was nothing like we had planned, it wasn’t even plan Z, but looking back on it we had the most incredible day. Despite only having 17 guests inside the church, all of our family and friends turned up to celebrate our marriage. We really were surrounded by love. The rain stayed off, the sun was shining… and by some miracle my dog (who, somehow, got snuck in) stayed quiet! We can’t wait to renew our vows next year with all of our family and friends present, but we wouldn’t change any part of our wedding day.”
Then they left this incredible review about myself;
“For us choosing Lauren was a no brainer, I had followed Lauren on Facebook and Instagram for years and knew she was a fantastic photographer. After our initial meeting we were both so blown away that we knew we had to book her. Throughout the process (and the pandemic) Lauren kept us informed, answered any and all questions and put us at ease. We both loved our engagement shoot, melting away all our fears and awkwardness in front of the camera in preparation for our big day.
Lauren isn’t just a wonderful photographer, she has been an incredible planner, organiser and friend throughout this journey. The images we received are more than we could have hoped for and we can’t wait to have her photograph our “re-wedding” next year.”
Gosh guys I cried reading that. Thank you for trusting me to capture your day, I had the most amazing time and now can’t wait for the big day next year. #marrynowpartylater
Congratulations to the newly weds.
Now for some images.
